Further afield
 | Nantes - The seventh largest city in France,
Nantes is situated on the banks of the River Loire, it is a lively
place with many cafes and restaurants. There is of course a
chateau, parks and gardens. |
 | Coast - a trip to the seaside to suit all
tastes. The bustling resort of La Baule provides a fantastic
beach or try the more genteel village of Piriac-sur-Mer. |
 | Rennes - the capital of Brittany. Take a
discovery tour of the city. Visit the "Ecomuseé"
- a museum of history and ethnology on a 20 hectare site. |
 | Saumur - here is the home of "Le Cadre Noir de
Saumur", the French National Riding School. Surrounding the town
are Europe's highest concentration of cave dwellings - also known as
Troglodyte Valley. Visit the "Museé du
Champignon" (mushroom museum) hidden in a cave. |
 | Angers - only one hour away, Angers can provide
golf, horse riding, bowling, skating, tennis. This is in
addition to the chateau and gardens. You could even try the
Cointreau Museum. |
 | Wine tasting - if you can't get to the wine
regions near to Saumur or Nantes, try your own from the large
selection in the local supermarkets. |
Annual Events
 | "Quartier d'Eté" - summer festival in Rennes at
the beginning of July. |
 | "Les Etincelles Aquatiques" - a spectacular
fireworks and music extravaganza in Martigné-Ferchaud every August. |
 | "Le Foire de Béré" in Châteaubriant,
takes place the 2nd weekend in September. This country
fair originated in the year 1050. |
